Description: This dataset represents swallets (stream to sink features) discovered, researched and mapped by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Geological Survey, Florida Swallet Survey. The Florida Swallet Survey was a mapping program funded by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Springs Initiative. A swallet is a stream to sink feature, meaning there is a contribution area that concentrates runoff into identifiable streams that disappear underground at a specific point through a sinkhole. The streams may be either intermittent or continuously flowing. Data collected includes: GPS points from a Trimble ProXR and TSC-1 Data Logger; length and width of pools and basins using a range finder; pool depths, if possible, using a hand-held sonar depth finder; color, clarity and visibility of the water in the pool using a secchi disk; photos were taken and written assessments were made of the geology, topography, vegetation, and notations of anything within a 150-meter radius. This dataset represents swallet locations that were within the scope of the Florida Springs Initiative / Florida Swallet Survey project. As such, not all Florida swallets are included in this dataset, and it is by no means comprehensive.
Description: This dataset contains karst features derived from 1996 DEM. Karst is a type of topography that results from dissolution and collapse of carbonate rocks such as limestone and dolomite and characterized by closed depressions or sinkholes, caves, and underground drainage.
Description: This dataset contains Sensitive Karst Areas found within the Southwest Florida Water Management District. This is a subset of the data layer found on the map titled "Geologic Map of the State of Florida", created by the Department of Environmental Protection . This data layer is a reselection of the formation types that were determined to be "Sensitive Karst Areas". Karst is a terrain with distinctive landforms and hydrology created from the dissolution of soluble rocks, principally limestone and dolomite. Karst terrain is characterized by springs, caves, sinkholes, and a unique hydrogeology that results in aquifers that are highly productive but extremely vulnerable to contamination.
Description: This data set represents the prime farmland and farmland of unique and local importance based on the layer nrcs_soils. This layer is a spatial view and is created by the following sql query: FRMLNDCL = 'ALL AREAS ARE PRIME FARMLAND' OR FRMLNDCL = 'PRIME FARMLAND IF DRAINED AND EITHER PROTECTED FROM FLOODING OR NOT FREQUENTLY FLOODED DURING THE GROWING SEASON' OR FRMLNDCL = 'PRIME FARMLAND IF DRAINED' OR FRMLNDCL = 'FARMLAND OF LOCAL IMPORTANCE' OR FRMLNDCL = 'FARMLAND OF UNIQUE IMPORTANCE'
Description: This data set is a digital soil survey and generally is the most detailed level of soil geographic data developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. The information was prepared by digitizing maps, by compiling information onto a planimetric correct base and digitizing, or by revising digitized maps using remotely sensed and other information. This data set replaces the SSOILS data in previous versions of FGDL.

Description: This dataset represents distribution of the following rock and sediment types located within 10 feet of land surface: Clayey Sand, Dolomite, Gravel and Coarse Sand, Limestone, Limestone/Dolomite, Med. Fine Sand and Silt, Peat, Sandy Clay and Clay, Shell Beds, Shelly Sand and Clay.
Description: The Cooperative Land Cover Map is a project to develop an improved statewide land cover map from existing sources and expert review of aerial photography. The project is directly tied to a goal of Florida's State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP) to represent Florida's diverse habitats in a spatially-explicit manner. The Cooperative Land Cover Map integrates 3 primary data types: 1) 6 million acres are derived from local or site-specific data sources, primarily on existing conservation lands. Most of these sources have a ground-truth or local knowledge component. We collected land cover and vegetation data from 37 existing sources. Each dataset was evaluated for consistency and quality and assigned a confidence category that determined how it was integrated into the final land cover map. 2) 1.4 million acres are derived from areas that FNAI ecologists reviewed with high resolution aerial photography. These areas were reviewed because other data indicated some potential for the presence of a focal community: scrub, scrubby flatwoods, sandhill, dry prairie, pine rockland, rockland hammock, upland pine or mesic flatwoods. 3) 3.2 million acres are represented by Florida Land Use Land Cover data from the FL Department of Environmental Protection and Water Management Districts (FLUCCS). The Cooperative Land Cover Map integrates data from the following years: NWFWMD: 2006 - 07 SRWMD: 2005 - 08 SJRWMD: 2004 SFWMD: 2004 SWFWMD: 2008 All data were crosswalked into the Florida Land Cover Classification System. This project was funded by a grant from FWC/Florida's Wildlife Legacy Initiative (Project 08009) to Florida Natural Areas Inventory. The current dataset is provided in 10m raster grid format.Changes from Version 3.7 to 4.0: CLC 4.0 represents a major update to CLC performed cooperatively by FWC and FNAI via a State Wildlife Grant to address changes on the landscape such as conversion to development and to integrate other recent high quality land cover sources. CLC v4.0 includes FWC's comprehensive delineation of solar farms, FLUCCS updates based on aerial photos from 2017-2022, ground-truthed mapping from FNAI and Florida Park Service, a statewide update of Intensive Development from Google Dynamic World land cover as of 2024, and additional FNAI review and revisions of target classes including sand beach and beach dune. A complete description of updates is available in the Cooperative Land Cover version 4.0 report, available from FNAI or FWC. FInal edits were added by FWC reflecting additional solar farms and FNAI Natural Community surveys for 17 conservation areas; classification errors were opportunistically corrected as found or as reported by users to landcovermap@myfwc.com.

Description: This dataset contains generalized future land use information for the State of Florida. Future land use designates intended future land use types as defined by local government. Data used to create this statewide layer were obtained from various local government data sources in Florida. Detailed local future land use categories from the original source data were generalized to create statewide future land use categories based on an intermediate level of aggregation (Level 2). For source dates and inputs see metadata.
Description: This dataset contains generalized land use derived from 2022 parcel specific land use for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The original 99 land use classes from the parcel data have been collapsed into 17 generalized classes. Please Note: As of 2015 there has been a change to the original FDOR 99 Land Use Values. Value 009 is now 'Residential Common Elements / Areas' this land use value maintains the same Generalized Land Use code 11 - RESIDENTIAL. Value 080 is now 'Vacant Governmental' this land use value does not maintain the same Generalized Land Use code 7 - OTHER, instead it is now classified as Generalized Land Use Code 8 - PUBLIC/SEMI-PUBLIC. Please Note: Previous versions of the LU_GEN dataset had a field called LANDUSE15, this field is now referred to as LUGEN_CODE. This layer is an update to the FGDL layer LU_GEN_2021.shp

Description: This dataset contains information about the FIRM Panel areas. The spatial entities representing FIRM panels are polygons. The polygon for the FIRM panel corresponds to the panel neatlines. Panel boundaries are generally derived from USGS DOQQ boundaries. As a result, the panels are generally rectangular. FIRM panels must not overlap or have gaps within a study. In situations where a portion of a panel lies outside the jurisdiction being mapped, the user must refer to the S_Pol_Ar table to determine the portion of the panel area where the FIRM Database shows the effective flood hazard data for the mapped jurisdiction. This information is needed for the FIRM Panel Index and the following tables in the FIS report: Listing of NFIP Jurisdictions, Levees, Incorporated Letters of Map Change, and Coastal Barrier Resources System Information. The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event (100 year), the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood event (500 year), and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by FEMA.
