Description: The Florida Wildlife Corridor is now part of a new state law intended to protect the corridor through enhanced land protection planning and funding. The Florida Wildlife Corridor is defined in the state law as The Florida Wildlife Corridor represents the most important opportunities to protect a functionally connected statewide system of public and private conservation lands essential for protecting Florida's native biodiversity, water resources, and other ecosystem services while providing a sustainable natural resource economy including a variety of resource-based recreational activities.

Description: This data layer was created by the University of Florida Center for Landscape Conservation Planning to represent the extent of potential timberlands in Florida. The data creation process involved several steps. First, a subset of property parcels was selected from the Florida Geographic Data Library's PARCELS_2023 shapefile, specifically those classified as Timberlands (land use codes 053 to 059). Next, an additional subset was created by identifying parcels designated as Improved Agriculture or Acreage Not Zoned Agriculture. Parcels from this subset that overlapped with areas of Tree Plantations from the Cooperative Land Cover v. 3.8 shapefile (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) were selected. The two subsets were merged to create the final data layer with individual parcel boundaries dissolved in the final version.

Parcels from this subset that overlapped with areas of Improved Pasture or Unimproved Woodland Pasture from the Cooperative Land Cover v. 3.8 shapefile (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission) were selected. The two subsets were merged to create the final data layer with individual parcel boundaries dissolved in the final version.
